Mary Edith Shilling-Hawes, 79, passed away on January 8, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12th from 2 to 4:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive, IA.
Mary was born to Wilbur and Freda (Bennett) Rhodes on April 10, 1943, in Waterloo, Iowa. Mary loved reading a library of books, doing crossword puzzles, playing cribbage and a multitude of card games, and dancing in the rain with her grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Freda (Bennett) Rhodes; siblings, Ruth Rhodes, Kay Rhodes, Sherry Flowers, and Richard Rhodes.
Mary is survived by her children, Teresa Jorgensen, Tracy (Tonya) Shilling, and Linda Shilling; grandchildren are Joshua, Ashley, Nicole, Chellsey, Alexandra, Jordan and Kolbi, along with 14 great-grandchildren. Mary’s surviving siblings are Garnet Upah, Bennett Rhodes, Carol Koch and Jannae Lutter.
