Steven Roerig, “Ole Boy” 66, passed away at his sons’ home on May 30, 2021.
Steven Joseph Roerig was born on September 3, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of Edward Francis and Barbara Jean (Conroy) Roerig. He attended Des Moines Public Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1973. Steven had worked at Granger Motors for many years doing maintenance and detailing.
Steven enjoyed spending time surrounded by family and friends, especially his granddaughter, Brooklyn, and his nephew Mitchell and his wife Phoumy. When Steven wasn’t working on cars, he loved to spend his free time watching Nascar. Family describes him as “the life of the party”, always willing to do a shot, and never taking “no” for an answer. He was also known as a wonderful friend, always ready to be a wingman to anyone who needed it.
Steven is survived by his son, Shane (Amanda) Roerig; grandchildren, Brooklyn Roerig, Mariah Lombardi, Adaliyah Cox; siblings, Rick (Cindy) Roerig and their son, Ryan (Cindy) Roerig, Debbie Workman and her son, Brett Workman, Kathy (Dave) Dickey and their children, Brenda and Derrick (Ellen) Dickey, Douglas (Irshana) Roerig and their children, Mitchell (Phoumy) Roerig and Moinca (Trey) Olano, Linda ( Kirby) Summers and their children, Adam and Abbie Phillips, as well as extended relatives and friends.
Steven rejoins his parents; Edward and Barbara Roerig, grandparents; grandchild, Kendal Cox, and nephew, Chad Workman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. at Celebration Church at 6204 S.W. 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50315.Memorials may be directed to the family at Iowa State Bank 6410 SW 9th, Des Moines, IA 50315.
Following the service, friends and family will be going to Fraternal Order of Eagles at 6567 Bloomfield Rd, Des Moines, IA 50320, and want to invite everyone to join them.
