ree

Ruth L. Peacock, age 87, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 24, 1938, and from that day forward became a shining example of unconditional love, faith, and kindness.

Ruth lived a life of generosity, always putting others before herself. She had a gift for making everyone feel cared for and never hesitated to give off to her family, friends, and even strangers. Her love was felt in every hug, every prayer, and every meal she lovingly prepared—especially her famous deviled eggs, which everyone adored, even though she herself didn’t like eggs.

She had a deep devotion to her Catholic faith and found peace each night praying the Rosary alongside her daughter, Connie. Music brought Ruth joy throughout her life, whether singing along to Elvis Presley or enjoying the voice of Blake Shelton. She also enjoyed the fun and excitement of casino trips, often making memories that her family will cherish.

Simple pleasures brought Ruth happiness—grilled hamburgers, strong coffee, toast, and even butter straight from the dish. Her warmth, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Ruth endlessly loved her children who were her proudest joy: Frances (Peacock) Brown (Jack), Jerry R. Peacock Jr. (Eva), Lorraine Dee (Peacock) Scott, Pauline Peacock, Constance Mae (Peacock) DeBord (Gary), Terry Peacock, Alan Peacock (Kelly), Christopher Mark Peacock (Teresa), Timothy Jude Peacock Sr., Anthony R. Peacock. As well as her 36 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren, and 28 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first and only true love, her husband Jerry, who now welcomes her home in heaven.

Ruth will be remembered as a woman of faith, strength, and boundless love. Her family takes comfort knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved Jerry, and embraced by God’s eternal light.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 26th from 10am-11am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Ave, West Des Moines. We will pray the Rosary following the visitation at 11am. There will be a private graveside service for immediate family.
