Ruth Ann McPherson

Ruth Ann McPherson September 7, 1952 – March 15, 2025

Ruth Ann McPherson, age 72, of Des Moines, IA, passed away on March 15, 2025, at Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. She was born on September 7, 1952, at Still Osteopathic Hospital in Des Moines, IA.

Ruth graduated from East Des Moines High School in 1970 and attended Grandview College in Des Moines. She retired after 20 years of dedicated service at Fareway Stores, having worked at other businesses prior to that. Ruth was a devoted member of Heritage Assembly of God Church, where she found a deep sense of belonging. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir for many years, and considered the congregation her second family. Above all, Ruth’s love and devotion were directed toward her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara McPherson; sister-in-law, Vanessa McPherson; niece, Michelle Richardson; as well as several grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ruth leaves behind her loving father, Warren McPherson of Des Moines, IA, his special sweetheart, Wanita Hartzell; sister, Gloria Richardson of Des Moines, IA; brother, David (Marlys) McPherson of Havelock, IA; niece, Jessica (Lance) Rachbind of Coral Springs, FL; nephews, Eric (Kay) Richardson of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jeremy McPherson of Norfolk, VA; along with great-nieces and great-nephews. Ruth’s family was of the utmost importance to her, and she loved and prayed for them always.

A Homecoming Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Assembly of God Church, 5051 N.E. 5th St., Des Moines, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Assembly of God Church in Ruth's memory.
