Richard, 82, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2021. A visitation will be 4-6 p.m., followed by a funeral at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, August 10 at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd., Clive, IA.
Richard was born October 30, 1938 in Lovilia, Iowa to Fred and Gladys (Ballard) Kraber. Following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Richard was united in marriage with Patty Kaster on February 25, 1963. Together they raised a family that included two children, William and Kim. Richard was the owner of Service Saw and Tool Corp for 42 years.
Richard liked to be active, whether it was bowling, golf, walking, or helping friends and neighbors with taking care of their yard or home projects. He enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Richard is survived by his wife, Patty; son, Bill (Shawna) Kraber; daughter, Kim (Jeff) Smith; six grandsons: Jeff Kraber, Bryan Kraber, David Kraber, Zachary Lohner, Joshua Kraber, and Garrett Lohner; one granddaughter, Presley Kraber; two great-grandsons, Anakin and Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Nova; brother, Fred (Goldie) Kraber; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Kraber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Charles.
