Oliver Bishop, 74, passed away on September 21, 2020 at Taylor House Hospice.
Oliver Richard Bishop Jr. was born on September 29, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa; he was the son of Oliver Richard and Beulah Jane(McGuire) Bishop Sr. He attended school in the Des Moines area. Oliver served his county honorably in the United States Army serving in Viet Nam and then joined the Army Reserves in Des Moines. He lived in Des Moines his entire life, working at Super Value, Albertsons and Walmart and also worked as a barber and owned 3 and 1 Barber Shop. Oliver enjoyed being outside and working in his yards which was meticulous.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Muriel Rudzik of Des Moines, Doris Beebe of Grimes, Beulah (Ron) Oxford of Des Moines, Carlton (Amanda) Bishop of Des Moines and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In death Oliver rejoins his parents, Oliver and Beulah Bishop, sister, Reta Halsted, brother, Carlton Bishop.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Brooks South Town Funeral Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa 50321. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 also at Brooks South Town Chapel. Due to Covid -19 we would ask you please wear a mask and practice safe distancing.
