Laura, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Weaver) Van Horn was born September 11, 1951, in Des Moines. She graduated from Ankeny High School in 1969.
She had a creative spirit and enjoyed cooking, watching movies, making jewelry, as well as working on arts and crafts. She embraced her Native American heritage and took great pride in honoring that part of who she was. Laura also had a special love for her puppies, Brezi and Chai.
More than anything, Laura truly enjoyed being surrounded by her friends and family. The time she spent with the people she loved brought her great joy, and the friendships and relationships she built throughout her life were very important to her.
Laura is survived by her brother, Rick Van Horn of California, her nephews, Chris Van Horn and Patrick Nunn, her great-niece, Ruby Van Horn; her longtime friend, Faith Johnson; and a multitude of family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bertha Van Horn.
Laura will be remembered for her creativity, the pride she had in her heritage, her love for her family and friends, and the special memories she leaves with all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions given to the family will be donated to the AHeinz 57 Animal Rescue.
