June 18, 1933 – December 21, 2025
92 Years Old
Kenneth W. Meehan, age 92, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord, at home, on December 21, 2025.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:00 am with Fr. Chris Hartshorn officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the church. (1627 Grand Ave, West Des Moines, IA 50265)
Kenneth William Meehan was born on June 18, 1933, to Andy and Lenora (Snyder) Meehan in rural Marcus, Iowa. He attended country school for one year and finished his education and graduated from Holy Name Catholic School. Kenny met the love of his life, Lorraine Westerberg, at a dance. They were married on July 10, 1954. There was never a dull moment with the 7 children to which they were blessed. They celebrated 60 years of marriage until Lorraine’s passing in 2015.
After serving in the army, Kenny had a successful career as a salesman in the welding business until his retirement. Kenny had a love for the outdoors, especially being ‘Captain’ in his boat on a lake for family and friends. When he wasn’t outdoors, you would find him in his garage crafting, building and fixing things for family, friends and virtually anyone.
A man of strong faith, Kenny was very involved in his church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, made (and fixed) many things for Sacred Heart Parish, and was a very active member in the Knights of Columbus, ascending to the rank of 4th Degree Knight.
Left to cherish his memory are his 6 children: Lynn (Pat) Murray, Mike (Deb), Kathy Bryant, Lori King (Aaron), Bill (Katie) and Tom; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dean Drefke; and many nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his wife; son, Bob; grandson, Bobby; granddaughter, Emily; his parents; brother, Jim; sisters, Marlene Meehan and Marcia Drefke; and son-in-law Billy Bryant.
Please consider making a donation, in his memory, to the Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus.
