Joe's prayer of "God, please come and get me" was answered on February 20,2023.
Joseph Leonard Thompson, Jr. was born on October 11, 1944, to Joe and Eva Thompson. He was the oldest of five; Joe, Molly, Jim, Jeff and Lori (Gilman).
Joe was a Lincoln graduate, who enlisted in the United States Army and married Donna Polson in 1963. They had two children: Joe and Jane (LeClair/Findley).
In June of 1966, he began a new life as Lee. His love for travel, art and music transformed into an adventurous life across the United States, he treasured the beauty of the coastlines, but his heart remained on the southside of Des Moines, Iowa.
As Joe/Lee celebrates an eternal life, he is remembered by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, loyal friends and family who adored his kind soul.
Services are March 24, 2023, at 11am at the Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
Memorials may be sent to Dexter WCV Elementary Music/Guitar Program or Youth/Travel Program at Calvary Assembly of God in Dexter Iowa.
