John Henry Driesen, age 77, went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2022.
John was born on October 6, 1944 to Tony and Marie Driesen (Van De Vegte) in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
John grew up on his father’s farm where he learned the value of a strong work ethic and good family values. Around the age of nine, his family made a move to California, where he finished his education and worked on his father’s dairy. He met the love of his life, Thelma Ann Vander Pol and married on November 26, 1965. In their 56 years of marriage, they were blessed with 4 children, 14 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. John cherished family time and enjoyed taking trips with them to make lifetime memories together. He was hardworking, selfless, and had strong faith in his Lord and Savior.
He is preceded in death by his son Gregory, his parents, brother Art and sister Marlene. Those left to cherish John’s memory are his wife Thelma; son Jeffrey and his children Dillon, Lillian, Daniel, Dustin; son Gregory’s children Tonnelle, Macy and their children Isabella, Sophia, Brayden, Bentley, GraceLynn; son Timothy and his wife Rachel and their children Colton, Kayden, Kaleb, Khloe, Kendra; son Randall and his wife Marcia and their children Julia, Alayna, and Jonah; and brother Alvin Driesen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13 at Westkirk Presbyterian Church at 10:00 AM with a luncheon reception to follow the service.
