Jane Ann Dearden, 84, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at UnityPoint Medical Center.


Jane was born on October 12, 1941, in Colfax, Iowa, to Stanley and Ruth (Meyer) Miller. She graduated from Colfax High School and later attended beauty school. On October 12, 1961, she married the love of her life, Russell Dearden. Together they were blessed with five children and shared many years of love and devotion.


Jane worked for Hallmark Cards for several years, but her greatest joy was being a homemaker and caring for her family. She especially treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jane enjoyed cooking, collecting antiques, and creating a warm and welcoming home for those she loved.


Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Susan (Mark) Woods, Brian (Melinda) Dearden, and Cindy (Greg) Smith; her grandchildren, Lacey Woods, Madison (Michael) Wilcut, Payton (Jorge) Escobedo, Emily Woods, Korey Dearden (Destiny Loudon - Hall), Ava Burriola, Jorden Smith, Carter Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Jayce Smith, Kaylee Smith, and Janessa Smith; five great-grandchildren, Reyden, Renley, Ella Jane, Bryce, Ali; her sister, Rhonda Sickora ; and nephews, Jimmy and Terry Allfree.


Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell "Russ" Dearden; her daughter, Michelle Dearden; her son, Mark Dearden; her granddaughter, Morgan Woods; her parents, Stanley and Ruth Miller; and her sisters, Sandra Allfree and Marilyn Miller.


Jane will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, and the many treasured memories she created with those she loved. Her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
