Jan was born in Berwick, Pennsylvania to Frances and Clarence Boone. Jan was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her. Jan dedicated her life to creating a loving and nurturing home. As a lifelong homemaker, she found immense joy in the simple, everyday acts of caring for her family. Her home was always filled with the comforting aromas of her famous cooking and baking and the sound of her laughter. She was a master of hospitality, and her door was always open to friends and neighbors in need of a kind word or a cup of coffee.
A woman of quiet strength and unwavering faith, Jan was a longtime member of the West Des Moines Methodist Church, where she volunteered countless hours. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and spending her evenings with a good book.
She attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois and then went to Christ Community Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois graduating with a degree in Medical Technology in 1965. Jan was active in many United Methodist groups and the West Des Moines Woman's Club.
Jan was a devoted mother to Alan, John, and Susan, and loving wife to her husband Bill. Her family was her pride and joy. She always said their births changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided.
Jan is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Boelter and daughter Susan Hogan of Eagleville, Missouri, is survived by sons: Alan Boelter of Clive, IA, John Boelter ( Kathy ) of Sunnyvale, CA and son - in - law Joe Hogan; two grandchildren, Maria Hogan and Joseph Hogan; Great grandson Elio; two sisters, Carol Douthat and Nancy Karraker; brother in law Dick Boelter of Cedar Rapids, IA, three nieces Nancy (Dan ) Van Oss, Carol Wilson, Serena ( Evan ) Richardson, a nephew, David Boelter; five grand nieces Emily ( Jeremy ) Faust, Erin ( Joshua ) Kreitlow, Allison Capper, Reghan ( TJ ) Zeipelt, Shelby Wilson; four grand nephews, Parker Richardson, Nick ( Jenn ) Boelter, Wesley Wilson, Tobey Wilson and a great grand niece Brooklyn.
A visitation will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 23rd 2025 at West Des Moines United Methodist Church, with a funeral service to follow at 12 PM. There will be a private family burial.
