Frank Hutchins

Francis “Frank” Marion Hutchins, 94, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022. He was born on February 20, 1928, to Forest “Jack” and Hazel Hutchins in Audubon County. He entered the military in September of 1946 and served until January of 1948, receiving the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal – Japan. Frank married Katherine Hansen on October 7, 1949, and had a son and two daughters. Frank “Sawdust” worked as a carpenter contractor most of his adult life and enjoyed working in his shop, building things even after retirement.


Frank is survived by one brother, Gary (Rhonda) of Roswell, NM; one sister-in-law, Bernice Bro of Ames, IA; 3 children, Doug (Melanie) Hutchins of Boonville, Kim (Bill) Bovick of Omaha, and Denise (Bob) Boucher of Norwalk; 6 grandchildren, Jenny (Sean) O’Neill, Brooke (Eric) Ramsey, Katie (Matt) Leopard, Scott (Katy) Bovick, TJ (Erin) Bovick, and Geoffery (Tabitha) Bales; Frank was blessed with 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.


Frank is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine; brothers, Dean and wife, Carma, and Bill and wives, JoAnn and Marlene; sisters, Lois (George) Oakley, Lucille (Alfred) Baier, Doris (Harold) Akers; in-laws, Harvey and Helen Kirk, Jim and Mildred Rogers, and Mervin Bro; special friend, Geri Rinard; nieces, Cheryl Christman, Merridy Rogers, and Nancy Wanniger, and nephews, Mike Jewell, Steve Jewell, and Neal Bro.


A private family graveside service will be held at Norwalk Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 1, from noon to 3PM at 622 Marie Ave. in Norwalk, IA 50211.
