Edmundo Felix Rivera Jr., 68, of Des Moines, IA passed away on Thursday, December 30th at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Eddie was born in Des Moines, IA March 4th, 1953, to Edmundo and Mary Joann Rivera (Thorpe).
Eddie grew up on the southside of Des Moines, IA. He graduated from Dowling High School where he excelled in football and baseball. After high school he joined the Air Force in 1973 and served for 4 years. While in the service he worked as a Fire Protection Specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1977 achieving the rank of Sergeant.
He loved to take his children on vacations and would take them on adventures around town. He was happiest when he was around his family. He had the biggest heart and will be deeply missed.
Eddie enjoyed coaching his family and friends. He was also a big fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs and enjoyed listening to classic rock.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by daughters Angela Campos (Mark), Carly Casey (Courtney), Gina Rivera and sons Eddie Rivera III and Anthony Rivera and his 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Terry Rivera (Jill), Brian Rivera (Cindy), Corey Rivera and his 5 sisters Andrea Rivera, Florentina Rivera, Donna Rivera – Thomas (Scott), Cindy Schreck (Dave) and Kathleen Rivera.
Catholic Mass will be held on Friday, January 7th at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony Church at 15 Indianola Rd, Des Moines, IA. The family strongly encourages masks and minimum contact and ask that this be respected during the service.

A private burial ceremony will be held on a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to his children.
