David Wayne Leaf was born on July 3, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa. His wife decided that is was time they celebrated their wedding anniversary together this year and he passed peacefully in his bed.

David was a loving husband, a great dad, and a proud “cool grandpa.” He loved talking about his family, old friends, and his teammates. He enjoyed camping, watching sports, buying fireworks, shooting squirrels, and feeding the birds—but he never did care much for his walnut tree.

He is survived by his son, Chris (Kerri) Leaf, his daughter, Jaymi (DJ) Emmons; his grandchildren, Dylan “Spud” (Steph) Emmons and Tyler “Hotrod” Emmons; and his siblings, Jimmy Leaf and Shelly Livengood.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Becki Leaf, and his parents, Gerrald Leaf and Marilyn Storrs.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, at Brooks Funeral Care Funeral Home, 2135 SW 9th St., Des Moines, IA 50315, with services following at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held after the services at 4970 Ash Dr., Pleasant Hill, IA.

Those planning to attend the services and/or Celebration of Life are encouraged to wear Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, New York Yankees, Gouchos, or LaVines apparel in honor of David.

David will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
