Dacia Deanne (Deaton) Brooks

Dacia Deanne (Deaton) Brooks, 70, of Lynnville, Iowa, passed away at her home on November 15, 2025.

Dacia was born on October 18, 1955, in Iowa, to Helen Tschirgi and Glenn Deaton. She spent most of her life in West Des Moines, where she built lasting connections through her many years of work at Dahl’s Grocery Store and Sam’s Club. Known for her feisty spirit and love for bringing people together, Dacia delighted in leading activities with her friends and took pride in ensuring that every detail was carried out just right.

Dacia is survived by her husband, Tom of Lynnville, Iowa; her daughters, Jamie Woods Flynn of Omaha, Nebraska, and Brandi (Randy) Brooks of Des Moines, Iowa; her grandchildren, John and Joe Hatfield, Eric Woods, Cole and Luke Woods Flynn, and Jase and Jaxx Flynn; her sister, Kimberly (Charles) Reininga of Chandler, Arizona; and her many loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Scott Brooks; her parents, Helen Tschirgi, Glen Deaton, Sandy Ruby, and Connie Deaton; her siblings, Doug Deaton, Dave Steffa, and Becky Steffa; and her son-in-law, Eric Woods.

The family has planned a Memorial Gathering on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Merle Hay Chapel Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50310.
