Cynthia "Cindy" McBride

Cindy Lee McBride was born on March 1^st, 1956 in Centerville, Iowa to Patricia Lee Boyce.  Cindy passed away on July 4, 2026, at Every Step Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM, on Thursday, July 23^rd, 2026, at Brooks Funeral Care, located on 2135 S.W. 9^th Street, Des Moines, Iowa.

Cindy graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1974.  After high school, Cindy attended Indian Hills Community College where she received her LPN nursing license.  She then transferred into the Arts & Science program and was later hired by All State Insurance in Overland Park, Kansas in 1980.  Next, Cindy was employed by Prudential until 1997.  Cindy then moved back to Des Moines and started her own business serving homes and businesses with her cleaning service.  Cindy operated her business for 25 years until her recent health battles.  Cindy’s clients were always considered dear friends. 

Cindy is mother to Christine Gleason and stepmother to Brad and Christopher McDonald.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia, her brother, Michael Gleason, step-son, Christopher and grandparents, Harry and Edith Boyce.

Cindy is survived by her daughter, Christine; grandsons Michael Spears and John Defoor; her dear niece Lexi and nephews Jarrett and Keagan Wilson; cousin, Randy (Julie) Cook; all the brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews of the Cook family;  as well as her nieces Kim, Keely and Kelly Smith and her loyal companion and four legged friend, Scout.

Cindy would like to thank Randy and Julie Cook, Deb and Don Laster, Carman and Paul Beckman, Dr. Nellie Simon, the Hospice nurses and her dear friends that helped her navigate her health challenges.

Cindy requests her ashes to be spread at a later date on the family homestead.  Memorial donations can be made to Cindy’s grandson, Michael Spears; c/o Randy Cook.
