Cheryl Bell ,76, of Des Moines, IA passed away, Monday, September 13 at Mercy Hospice House. Cheryl was born on February 21, 1945, in Des Moines to Harold and Eva DeCou and had an older sister Eva Mae Thompson. She was united in marriage with Charles Bell March 16, 1963. Cheryl was a stay-at-home mother and helped with babysitting her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and friends, going to grandboys baseball games, reading books to the littles, camping and celebrating holidays especially July 4th neighborhood block party. Cheryl was known to have considerable fun with Marcia and Bobbe playing cards and drinking beer. She did work as a lunch lady for Park Ave School for 15 years and was "grandma" to many. Cheryl was famous for her noodle salad and fried chicken at the family reunions. She retired in 2002 and traveled to Texas for the winters. She did not leave until we had family Christmas and made her yummy sugar cookies.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband; Charles, children; Roxanne (David), Chuck and Carla, grandchildren; Brad (Alissa), Nicholas, Cora (Colton), Sarah (Ryan) and Keagan, great grandchildren; Remington and D.J.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
