Carl Raymond Ireland passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023, at the age of 86 in Des Moines, Iowa (formerly Denver, Co.). He was born to Asa and Lorrene Ireland on October 9th, 1936, on a farm in Ankeny, Iowa. He is a graduate of Iowa State University and was a software engineer for AT&T until his retirement, in 1994. Carl was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to golf, bowl, play cards, and spend time with family. He will be remembered as a teacher, inventor, comedian, and life-long learner. He truly believed a body in motion stayed in motion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathleen, and brother, Jerry. He is survived by his sisters, Patricia (John) and Linda (Harvey). His children, Vicki (Randy), Kati, Amy and Mike (Pam). His grandchildren Christy (Leighton), Randall (Sarah), Ashley (Todd), Nicole, Bailey, and Jimmy D. His great-grandchildren Sam, Elijah, Joe, Aria, Hannah, Emma, Declan, and Brendan.
A celebration of life will be held privately with his immediate family.
