Betty (Otto) Rose, 90, passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Pine Acres Care Center (Heritage Court) in West Des Moines. Her memory is cherished by her son, Jeff (Jennifer) Rose of Bettendorf, two grandsons, Jeff, Jr. (Liz) of Moline, IL, Jonathon of West Des Moines, her sister-in-law, Shirley Otto of Des Moines, niece, Glynis (Dale) Hikes of St. Charles, IA and nephews, Craig Otto of Des Moines and Todd Otto (Brenda) of Eagle River, WI.
Betty was born on the family farm outside of Hubbard, IA on May 3, 1930 to William A. Otto and Mathilda (Jass) Otto. She graduated from AIB College of Busines where she played basketball. A long-time resident of the Des Moines area, she worked at Equitable Life Assurance Society for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She greatly enjoyed following her grandsons’ athletic and musical competitions and their life pursuits. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and always the life of the party.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Otto and sister, Cheryl Simmons. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please check www.BrooksFuneralCare.com for details. Memorials may be directed to John Stoddard Cancer Center or EveryStep Hospice.
