Bertha Gray, 85 of Norwalk, Iowa passed away on March 3, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Bertha was born on November 5, 1935 in Kosciusko, Mississippi; she was the daughter of Ernest and Vernia (Brown) Burt.
She received her education in Muskegon, Michigan graduating with the class of 1953. She was then united in marriage to Billie Sutton. They later divorced. In 1969, Bertha was united in marriage to Edward William Gray in Chicago, Illinois and they made their home in Des Moines, Iowa where Bertha was a CNA.
She was a very talented person, she excelled at painting, decorating, gardening, and cooking.
Left to cherish her life are her children, Larry (Willie) Sutton, Stine Sutton, Tanya Sutton all of Indiana, and Stacey Gray Akyea of Minnesota, and several grand and great-grandchildren and siblings.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50310. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Dr., Des Moines, IA 50321.
Memorials May be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
