Aaron Eugene Morney was born on May 13, 1963, in Albia, Iowa, and passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Aaron lived a life centered on simple joys and meaningful connections. He worked in several roles throughout his life, including at Des Moines General Hospital, the Greyhound Bus Station, and as a CNA at various health care facilities, where his caring nature touched many lives. Aaron enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Aaron was an avid athlete in his younger years, especially in basketball. He spent many summers playing at Pioneer Park, the Fourmile Community Center, and the Salvation Army, creating lasting memories and friendships. He also loved to grill and took special pride in cooking his favorite pork chops fried with a slice of onion.
Aaron is lovingly remembered by his sister, Tammy Morney; and his brothers, Wendall (Lynette) Morney, Donald Reader, Damon Berry and stepsister Angie Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Â
He was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Reader; his father, Wendall Morney; his brother, Ronald Morney; his grandparents, Dorothy and Harvey Rumley; his aunts, Josephine Graves and Eveyln Rumley; his uncles, Don Warren, Donald Rumley, Bobby Morney, Jerry Morney, and Bud Morney.
Special thanks to his lifelong friends, Burt Moody, Gaylord Houston, Dave Johnson, and Al Briggs; and his longtime companion, Sheila Alleman.
A private family memorial was held. The family will gather for a home celebration and balloon release at a later date.
Aaron will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kind heart, easy smile, and love for those around him. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
