Virginia Christensen, age 87, died of kidney failure on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Taylor House in Des Moines. Her body was cremated and memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1385 Buffalo Road in West Des Moines at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008.

She was born and raised in Cass County. Virginia was a rural school teacher and farmed with her husband in Adair county until they moved to West Des Moines in 1963. She worked as a counter clerk for Corwins and French Way for 21 years before retiring. She loved to cook and be with her family.

She leaves a son, Delmar Christensen of Des Moines; foster son, Jerry Wymer of Oregon; one brother, Lyle; two sisters, Arlene and Marjorie, all of Atlantic, IA; four grandchildren; five foster grandchildren; one step-grandchild; four great- grandchildren; ten foster great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo.
