Vernon A. Jochims, 77, from Arnolds Park, Iowa formerly of Des Moines, Iowa and Spencer, IA died of congestive heart failure on Tuesday July 1st, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, mother and father-in law, 5 brothers-in-law, and 4 sisters-in-law.

Survivors include wife Leota (Johnson) of 56 years, 1 son James Jochims of Homes, PA, and 2 daughters; Jennie Crim and husband John of Marion, IA, and Carol Jochims-Barger of Woodward, IA, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grand children, Brother Victor Jochims and wife Ruth of Spencer, IA, sister Cindy Hausman and husband Jim of Ida Grove, IA, step sisters: Sandra Gallien and husband Paul of Gaithersburg, MD, Dixie McCoy and husband Dick of Charlotte, SC, Gloria Jochims of Federal Way, WA, Sharon Erickson and husband Don, of Minneapolis, MN, and other relatives and friends.

Vernon was born in Spencer, IA. Served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked as a Tool & Die Maker at Delevan’s Manufacturing in Des Moines for 20 years before moving to Arnolds Park, IA. He was employed at Eaton Corporation in Spencer, IA retiring after 20 years.

Vernon loved hunting, fishing, bird watching and feeding, traveling, being a “Winter Texan” in Mission, TX for the past 15 years. His greatest love besides his family was helping others with handy-man projects, making wind-chimes & bread pudding, and magnetic book marks for family and friends.

Funeral will be held at 1PM Saturday July 5, 2008 at Brooks Funeral Home in Clive, Iowa.
