Stanley K. Stevens, 76, died on July 21, 2008 at Hospice Kanvanagh House on Grand.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2008 at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday in the church Friendship Room.

He was born in Grundy Center, Iowa and lived in West Des Moines for over 50 years. Stan was a combat Marine serving in the Korean Conflict. He worked at INA (CIGNA) as a claims manager until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church and GYRO. Stan enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, daily walks with his good friends, reading and playing card games. Stan attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man and had graduated from Simpson College in 1955.

He will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Beverly (Labertew) Stevens; daughters, Lisa and her husband Mark Schwarztrauber of St. Louis, MO and Julie and her husband Michael Potter of Frankenmuth, MI and his granddaughters, Samantha and Alexandra Potter and Katie and Amanda Schwarztrauber. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Marie Stevens.
