Nellie Mae Sandon, 87, passed on July 25, 2008, at the Kavanagh House on 56th Street, after suffering a stroke on Friday, July 11, 2008.  Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at the Unity Church of Des Moines, 414 31st St. with interment following at Glendale Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Church from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., prior to the funeral service.

Nell graduated from East High School in 1939 and married James Curtis Sandon.  She raised a son, Michael Sandon, and worked as an office manager for Newburgh Brokerage Company.  She was very politically active and was a member of Unity Church.

She is survived by her son, Michael of Orlando, FL; grandson, Michael Sandon II of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandsons, Scott and Steven Sandon; brother-in-law, Jack (Mary) Sandon of Des Moines, IA; and sister-in-law, Ruth Scott of Augusta, GA.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Clara and Orion Scott; husband, James; brothers, Howard, Harper, and Bob Scott.
