Mary Courtney Estes York, 89, died Thursday, July 3 at the Pella Regional Nursing Home. Mary was born September 2, 1918, in Hamilton, Iowa to Earnest and Alice (Fowler) Courtney. She attended school in Hamilton, Iowa.

Mary is survived by four children. Kathryn, James, Robert and Marcia; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Susie Schippers; brother, Earnest Courtney, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Elmer, Liston, Harold and Bill Courtney; 3 sisters, Evelyn Courtney, Esther Gladson, and Nettie Keegel. Also, preceding her in death is a daughter, Mary Stoops Carter and son, Bobby Estes; 2 grandsons, Marion Stoops Jr. and John Kraber, and a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Kraber.

Visitation with viewing of the body will be Saturday, July 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd, Clive, Iowa. Following cremation, funeral services will be held at the Hamilton Methodist Church on Monday, July 7, at 10:30 a.m. with burial at the Hamilton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Methodist Church.
