Joe Kelly, 96, died July 7, 2008 at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk, IA. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the church where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Churchville, IA.

He was born in Cumming, IA on October 29, 1911 to James and Mary F. Kelly. Joe farmed for many years in Warren County until moving to Johnston, IA five years ago. He was an avid reader, member of St. John's and for over fifty years, sung for numerous funerals and weddings in Warren county.

He will be missed by his brother, Francis 'Tom' Kelly of San Mateo, CA; nieces and nephews, John (Pat) Cain, Jim (Mary) Cain, Jack Kelly, Mary Frances Kelly, Kathleen (Steve) Marsh, Larry Ryner, Dan (Lori) Ryner and Karen (Russ Byers) Kelly and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carrie Cain and Catherine Ryner; brother, John Kelly and nephew, Richard Ryner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to his church.
