Wallace "Wally" Henry Reed, 85, entered his eternal life on Monday, January 21, 2008, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Wally was born August 23, 1922 in Des Moines to Robert and Harriet Reed. He retired from being a bailiff at the Polk County Court House in 1987. He and his wife moved to Florida, where they lived until 1998.

He belonged to the U.S.S. Ranger CV4 Reunion Group, VFW Post #9692 and the American Legion Post #0042. He was a member of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny, where there will be a visitation today, January 24, 2008 from 4:30 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary service at 4:30 p.m. and a Prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2008 with cremation to follow. Burial of his cremains will be in the Veteran's section of Glendale Cemetery at a later date.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret (Maggie); his three sons, Terry (Dianna) of Huntington Beach, CA, Michael of Windsor Heights and Steven (Laurel) of Ankeny; three grandchildren, Zachary, Lindsey and Erik; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lowell and Richard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church Foundation.
