Ray Stocker, 98, passed away at the Kavanagh House on 56th, March 9, 2008.

He was born in Monroe County on February 13, 1910. He farmed most of his life, and then worked as a Assemblyman at Maytag Corporation for 23 years.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Lola in 1982 and Cleo in 2004; two brothers and sister.

He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his son, Jim Stocker (Linda) of Columbus, OH; daughters, Lois Knapp, Sue Clement (Bruce) of Des Moines; step- daughters, Shirley Juhl and Lois Harris; grandchildren, Beverly Halter, Shirley Treanor, Tanya Starcher, Brian Stocker, Shannon Clement, Ben Clement, Nate Clement, Amanda Clement; and many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ray showed unfailing love and compassion to his family, friends, and everyone he met. He was a life long student of the Bible and taught classes at church and nursing homes throughout his life.

Services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 12 at First Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Brooks Funeral Care. Entombment will be at Resthaven Garden Masoleum.
