Rollie Leroy Pyles, of Des Moines, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, of natural causes.

He will be cremated with burial at a later date at the Masonic Cemetery (aka Glendale Cemetery) in Des Moines. There will be no formal services.

Rollie was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1922. He was one week short of turning 86 years old.

Before retirement, he owned and operated Pyles Boarding Home, owned an Arkansas resort and was a former Merchant Marine.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Pyles.

Survivors include his dear friend Alice Kirby, of Des Moines, three daughters - Lois Cook and Rita (Sam) Gooden, of Des Moines and Ruth (Richard) Weatherly, of Urbandale; eight grandchildren - Teri (Barry) Mabon, Robert Thomas, Gary Thomas, all of Des Moines, Deb (Terry) Semmens, of DeSoto, Ron (Tami) Miller, Deanna Miller (Matt Gleim), Donna Miller, all of Des Moines and Rachel (Daniel) Kimball, of Centennial, Colorado, 19 great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
