Lloyd Tracy
He was born in Griswold, IA and has resided in Polk City for the last 48 years. During this time he was active in City Government including being Mayor for twelve years. The last twelve winters were spent being a snowbird in Mesa, AZ where he was active in shuffleboard, and bowling, holding offices in both. He was a member of Local #310 and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, loved camping, boating, RV traveling and classic cars. In 1993, Lloyd retired from Firestone as a tire builder after 41 years of service which included an 18-month stint in the US Navy. He collected antique car decanters, depression glass and Iowa Hawkeye paraphernalia. His pride and joy was the restored 1950 Ford exactly like he owned when he first met his wife. He will be missed by his devoted wife of 54 years, Marilyn; daughters, Kristie Stonebraker and Kathie Carey both of Waukee; son, Mike Tracy of Clive; eight grandchildren; sister, Iris Hollesen of Griswold, IA and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Lutheran Church of Hope Chapel, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines with fellowship following the service. Private burial will be at a later date in Waukee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to Mercy Hospice, 5820 Winwood, Drive, Johnston, Iowa 50131, or Lutheran Church of Hope. |
