John Millang, 79, died on February 5, 2008 at Kavanagh House on 56th.

John was born on October 20, 1928 to John Sr. and Josie Millang, in Hamilton County. He graduated from Roland High School and was united in marriage to Joann Geist in 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union, four sons and one daughter were born.

John was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired lithographer in the printing industry and member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. He enjoyed camping, boating, golf and loved to spend time with his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife Joann in August of 2007. He is survived by his four sons, Stephen (Mary), Douglas, John Wesley (Mary) all of Des Moines, and Randall (Maria) of Grimes; daughter, Tamera (Roger) Burlingame of Clive; thirteen grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren; brother Harlan of Sully; sisters, Ihlo Borts of California and Kay Dickson of Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale (3510 72nd Street). Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at St. Stephen’s. Burial with Military Honors will be at Masonic Cemetery. Memorial may be made to his church.
