Elbert T. Jennings Elbert T. Jennings, 65, passed away February 19, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Elbert was born in St. Joseph, MO on February 26, 1942 to Wilfred and Lucille (Courtney) Jennings. He graduated in 1960 from Benton High School in St. Joseph, MO and then attended Northwest Missouri State College. He graduated with his Bachelors degree and then continued on to receive his Masters at the University of MO-Rolla. His post graduate work was completed at San Diego State University. Elbert was a dedicated math teacher in the Des Moines public school system for 26 years. During that time he also taught additional courses at Drake University and Des Moines Area Community College. Students affectionately referred to him as "Mr. French". He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Urbandale; children, Kimberly-Renee (Dan Loe) and Andrew Paul Jennings both of Minneapolis, MN; step-children, Beth (George) Winter of Prole, IA and Jeffrey (Eileen) Enbusk of Norwalk, IA; sisters, Janet Jenkins and Pam Canterbury- Schorn (Tom); brother, Paul (Ruth) Jennings all of Kansas City, MO and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws. Elbert was known for his wonderful sense of humor and story-telling. His jokes will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Norwalk Christian Church, 701 Main Street, Norwalk, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Hospice. |
