Dorothy Hedlund McFarlane, 81, died February 21, 2008 of complications of a stroke at Hospice Kavanagh House. The body has been cremated and no visitation or services are planned as per her wishes. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.

Mrs. McFarlane was born in Madrid and lived her entire life in this area. She was a homemaker. She leaves to mourn, her husband, Melvin; daughter, Kathryn (James) Madill; son, Charles McFarlane; six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Madrid Public Library or Hospice Kavanagh House, 900-56th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50312.
