C. Vaughn Steen, 83, died at Iowa Lutheran Hospital on March 17, 2008.

No services are planned. There will be a gathering for the family later in the Spring.

He was born in Des Moines and lived here most of his life. He was a US Army veteran who had served in the Pacific Theatre and a member of the Pharmacists Honor Society (Rho Chi). He had worked for 25 years at Dahl's Foods, Inc. as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager. Vaughn enjoyed fishing, gardening, puttering in the garage and was a armchair sportsman.

He will be missed by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; children, Valerie (Stephen) Nichols of Johnston, Lynn (Margaret) Steen of Des Moines, Scott Steen of Marshalltown and Brenda (Ric) Sharp of Ashland, Oregon; nine grandchildren and his brothers, F. Lowell Steen (Alma) and R. 'Ted' Steen (Charlotte) both of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

The family wishes to thank his caregivers at Valley View Village and Iowa Lutheran Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
