Bill U. Hartshorn, 77, passed away at home from melenoma Friday, February 22, 2008.

Bill was born in Knoxville Iowa and was a retired U.S. Letter Carrier for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1999.

He was a faithful member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Bill will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn and his five children; Mary Jane Nemetz of Norwalk, Bob ( Joni) Hartshorn of Grantsburg WI., Joanne (Fritz) Nordengren of West Des Moines , Teresa (Kent) Baker of Winfield and Reverend Chris Hartshorn of Winterset. A brother Jim Hartshorn and a sister Viola Majors.

Bill was a proud grandfather of 10; Anna (who he joins in eternal life), Spencer, Chase, Noah, Cara, Lauren, Garret, Andy, Liza and Molly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, February,25, 2008 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk. Visitation will be held 1 PM to 5 PM (with family present from 3 PM to 5 PM) and a Scripture service beginning at 5 PM Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the church.

Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery in Cumming.

Memorial contributions are suggested to; the building funds at his church or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset or to Mercy Hospice.
