Samuel James Allen, 52, died December 17, 2007 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Sam was born August 10, 1955, to John and Ruth (Dirks) Allen at Clarinda, IA. He attended school in Roseburg, OR, Clarinda, and Pella, IA. He was a systems maintenance administrator for EMC prior to his retirement.

Sam enjoyed fixing anything, liked tools that worked right, and preferred old rock music and tie-dyed shirts.

He is survived by his son Dallas, his mother Ruth and sisters Kathy (Don) Herrema-Johnson and Carol Campbell.

At Sam’s request, there will be no services.  The family will receive visitors Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the Quality Inn on Merle Hay Road, just south of I-80.
