Marie C. (Koch) Hofer Lloyd, 85, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2007, in Granger, Iowa.

Marie lived most of her adult life in McGregor, IA, moving to Des Moines in 2002 to be nearer to family. Marie was born in Petersburg, NE on February 2, 1922 to Frank and Catherine (Halbur) Koch. After high school, Marie moved with a brother to Lamont, IA where she met and married Carl Dale Hofer. In 1946, she and Carl opened an appliance and TV/radio business in McGregor, where Marie spent the next 56 years. After Carl's death in 1959, Marie continued the business and raising the three children from that marriage. In 1961, Marie married Cyril J. Lloyd. He passed away in 1997. Together they had two children and operated Lloyds' Radio and TV in McGregor until the business was sold in 1986 to Triax Communications. Marie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a charter member of the McGregor chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a active member of the St. Mary's Women's Guild.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John, Frank, Joseph, Louis, Alfred, and Andrew, and sisters Theresa Magsamen and Anna Magsamen. She will be missed by five children, Lavonne (Jim) Shedivy of Longboat Key, FL., Leon (Mary Jo) Hofer of West Des Moines, IA., Larry (Blanca) Hofer of Arvada, CO., Mary Ann Lloyd Penza of Beaverton, OR., and James (Tricia) Lloyd of Urbandale, IA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m., with a rosary service at 4 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Thornburg Funeral Services of McGregor.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or to the Catholic Daughters of America.
