Kathryn "Kate" Louise Brown, 95, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2007, at Fountain West Care Center. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007, from 12 to 2 p.m., at Brooks Funeral Care University Chapel, 7975 University Blvd., Clive, Iowa.

Kate was born on November 6, 1912, to Frederick and Anna (Reed) Foss in Minneapolis, MN. Upon moving to Des Moines, she met William “Bill” Brown. They were united in marriage on October 21, 1931. Together, they owned and operated Bill Brown Trailer Sales, an Airstream franchise. Kate was a Certified Braillist for the Iowa Commission for the Blind, transcribing documents into braille. She enjoyed needle work and was very active in her church, First Christian Church. She was a past president of CWF at her church, National T.T.T., and she headed up the church’s Iowa State Fair food booth. She loved to travel, but she especially loved the 7 months that she and her husband spent on the Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Tour through Europe.

Kate will be missed by her daughter, Barbara (John) Kates of West Des Moines, and son, Robert S. (Sandy) Brown of Waukee; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and her parents.

Memorials may be given to Heritage Court or to Fountain West Care Center.
