Day F. Hacke, born July 3, 1925, in Lone Tree, Iowa, entered his eternal life on December 5, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2007 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th St. Urbandale, Iowa. Family will receive friends on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care, University Chapel, 7975 University Blvd., Clive, Iowa. He and his father, Charles Hacke, owned and published the Sac Sun Newspaper from 1938 to 1978. He married Suzanne Swearingen on December 29, 1946, who preceded him in death. He married Marie Dodd on June 6, 1987.

Day was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, golfing and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, and his children, Sarah (Dan) Schroeder, Melissa (Maurice) Gardner, Jon (Linda) Hacke, Laurel Albright and Suzanne (Dean) Zimmerman; step-children, Kathleen (Keith) Wunder, Mary (Curt) Waterman, Beth (Dan) Forbes, Linda (Marvin) Bennett and Jean (Charlie) Neibergall; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice, sisters, Madelyn Hink and Joyce Miles and step-son, David Dodd.
