Wilma Maie Steele, 77, died of natural causes on December 20, 2006. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care ~ University Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 28, at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. Following the service, Wilma wished for her body to be cremated. Burial of her cremains will be at a later date in Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Wilma was born in Humeston, Iowa on July 25, 1929. After living in Washington, Iowa, Wilma moved to West Des Moines 44 years ago. She was a medical secretary for Drs. Latcham, Burke and Bardole from 1971 - 1987 and for Iowa Clinic Urology from 1987-2003.

She will be missed by her husband of 56 years, Robert Steele of West Des Moines; son, Kelly Steele of West Des Moines; three daughters, Angie (John) Olsem-Greenman of Booneville, Lori Stern of Des Moines and Tracey (Allen) Kenkel of Panama, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her sister, Betty (Jack) Simons of Blackfoot, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, C. Wayne and Elsie Maie (Farrel) Tait.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
