A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Christ the King Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 5 p.m. rosary at the Tonini Chapel.

She was a retired secretary for the Rock Island Railroad. She belonged to the American Business Women's Association, Catholic Daughters of America, Catholic Women’s League, Vittoria Lodge Auxiliary, Professional Women in Transportation, Christ the King Rosary Society.

She was a very generous person who prided herself in her elegant appearance. Sofia enjoyed traveling and assisted her church in accounting.

She will be missed by her great-nieces, Gina (Tonini) Nelson and Michelle (Wolfe) Tigner; great-great-nieces, Alexis Kenney and Alayna Nelson; and sister-in-law, Mary Tonini. Preceding her in death are her parents, Julia (Guidoni) and Belindo Tonini; two brothers, Melio and Mando Tonini; and her nephew, Michael Tonini.
