Mary Ellen Rasmussen, of Des Moines, entered into eternal life on October 9, 2006 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. She was born on March 7, 1930 in Owen, WI to Henry and Avis Anderson. She married T.K. Rasmussen in August of 1949 and they were married for 57 years.

Mary Ellen was a homemaker. She had also worked at Washington School in Des Moines, at Banker’s Life and later volunteered at Jackson School. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. She enjoyed walking with the Southridge Mall Walking Club.

Mary Ellen will be missed by her husband, T.K., two sons; Jim Rasmussen, David (Jill) Rasmussen; a daughter Kristine and special friend Karen Rasmussen. Also six grandchildren, Rodney (Nicole) Rasmussen, Bob (Callie) Rasmussen; Autumn, April and Grant Rasmussen; and Heidi Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Alicya Glenn, Madison Carew, and Tyler Barsetti; and her sister, Doris (Louis) Weisbrod of Appleton, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Avis.

A private funeral service for the family will be held with Brooks Tonini Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
