Ken Libby
West Des Moines

Ken Libby, a life-long resident of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, ending a 5-year battle with cancer. He was 66.

Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather; and his family was his pride and joy. He will be missed by Evelyn Libby, his wife of 46 years; sons, David (Ann), Jonathan (Stacy) and Gregory (Lidieth); granddaughters, Kara, Alexa, and Katie, and brother, Robert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Maryanna Libby, and his brother, Ellis Libby.

Ken was a graduate of Valley High School, and then became the first in his family to earn a college degree when he graduated from Iowa State University. He began his career at Rock Island Railroad and IBM, and then continued working as a home-builder and remodeling specialist, and a computer/software consultant.

Ken was an avid wood worker, golfer and musician. He played Baritone in the Greater Des Moines Municipal Band and the New Horizons Band. He was a life-long member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, a member of GYROS International, and a member of the Des Moines Area Cyclone Club. He also was active in Little League and Scouting with his sons.

Visitation will be held at West Des Moines United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 22, from 3 to 6 p.m., and a Celebration of Life service will follow at the church on Monday, October 23, at 10:30 a.m.
