Dennis H. McFarling, 62, of Ankeny, Iowa, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2006. Born in Hedrick, Iowa, he moved to the Des Moines area in 1970 with a career in transportation. He retired from USF Dugan in June 1997 as terminal manager.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sally; a daughter, Jill (Neil) of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son, Jay (Kristi) of Ankeny; eight grandchildren, Chad, Molly, Natalie, Brett, Kaylee, Samuel, Caleb, and Elise; a sister, Marilyn Braham of Ottumwa; three brothers, Allen, of Ottumwa; Wayne of Hedrick; and Larry of Sacramento, California.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Saylorville Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at the Ankeny Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. on Tuesday with a memorial service to follow at Saylorville Baptist Church at 2 p.m.
