Carol Murdock
Over her life time she enjoyed home decor, sewing, community service and reading. During the past several decades she developed a love of gardening and enjoyed sharing that pleasure with other gardeners, especially her husband, Stan. She was a partner with her husband, John (Jack) Reed (and her parents, Ruby and Willis Young) in the Anita Livestock Auction. They lived in Anita for 20 years and raised their four sons there. After John’s death, she married Donald Anthofer of Coon Rapids, Iowa. Don died in 1977. Carol and Stan married in 1980 and lived in Creston and West Des Moines enjoying gardening (and especially daylilies). She is survived by her husband, Stanley Murdock, and her four sons, Denis Reed of Des Moines, Bradley Reed of Cincinnati, Douglas Reed of Des Moines and Timothy Reed of Indianapolis; three step-children, Betty Marxen, Margaret Wynja and Mark Murdock. Also, eleven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of Carols life at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9, at the Botanical Center. Memorials may be sent to the West Des Moines Library or the Hospice of Central Iowa. |
