Bernard O. Randol
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, November 18, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Ames. Bernie Randol was born December 7, 1932, in Knoxville, to Bernard P. and Dorothy Randol. He graduated from Knoxville High School and served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. In 1953 he married Arla B. Meier and attended the University of Iowa, earning a bachelor’s degree in business followed by his CPA. He then worked as a certified public accountant in Cedar Rapids, which led to his next positions as internal auditor, controller and university secretary at Iowa State University from 1963 until his retirement in 1990. Bernie was a member of Pheasants Forever, the American Legion, Lions Club and Izaak Walton League. After retirement he was involved with community volunteer work. He is survived by his three children: Lori (Peter) Arnesen of Woodbury, MN., Matt Randol of Ames; Cindy (Mark) Hadaway of Story City; and five grandchildren, Kristin, Sarah and Erica Arnesen of Woodbury, MN., and Lauren and Ryan Hadaway of Story City. Also surviving are his brother, Richard (Donna) Randol of Knoxville, and his sister, Vida (Art) Peirce of Kokomo, IN., as well as aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pheasants Forever or Ames Veteran Memorial. |
