Agnes Goodwin

Agnes L Rainbolt Goodwin, died Sunday, October 29, 2006, at Fountains West nursing home, in West Des Moines, where she had resided for some time. She was born November 11, 1914 in Stiles, Iowa, and on October 12, 1935 married the Reverend Sherman H. Goodwin of Ottumwa.

Agnes was a woman who was loved and appreciated as a wife, mother and grandmother. She instilled Christian values in her children, and saw many of her children and grandchildren in ministry. Agnes loved social and family events, and always prepared food for them. Her cooking was well known throughout the communities where she lived. She lived and loved by example, making personal sacrifices to help her family, and leaves a Godly legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Gwen D. Goodwin of Woodbridge, Virginia, son Jack R. Goodwin of Victoria Texas, and daughter Colleen K. Roemerman of Highland Village, Texas.
She is survived by 10 grandchildren; Kathy (King) Rickard, Dane King, Shonette (Gaston) Hamidzada, Gregory Goodwin, Destry Gaston, Krista (Roemerman) Kropp, Stephanie (Goodwin) Filla, Steven Roemerman, David A. Goodwin, and Mackenzie Goodwin. She is survived by 10 great-grandchildren; Avery Gaston, Jawaid Hamidzada, Sydney Kropp, Marina Hamidzada, Nykolas Goodwin, Romen Filla, Regan Roemerman, Riley Filla, Audrey Roemerman, and Chloe Kropp.

She was preceded in death by her brother Carl Rainbolt; husband, Sherman H. Goodwin; her son, Ronald King of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and her son David C. Goodwin of Des Moines, Iowa.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Chapel, at 7975 University Boulevard, Clive Iowa. Burial will be at Shaul Cemetery, 1339 Bluegrass Rd, Ottumwa, Iowa at 1:30 p.m. the same day.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Chapel.
