George W. Keener George W. Keener went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2005 at Kavanagh House Hospice. George was born on July 22, 1916 in Des Moines. He attended West High and was employed for many for years by the Ford Motor Company in Des Moines, and Steel Heat Treating plant in West Des Moines. George was an avid boxing fan, but enjoyed watching all sports on his "big" TV. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 69 years, Adeline; his children, Shirley (Bill) Towey, Karen Roush, Judy Lewis, Patrick (Sherry) Keener, Michael (Kathy) Keener and Cathy (Don) Hammel; 16 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Agnes Keener; sister, Martha Freeman; brother, Earl Keener; son, Larry Keener; grandsons, Doug Keener and Dennis Lewis. Per George's request no services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Kavanagh House, 900 56th Street Des Moines, Iowa 50312 or Highland Park Lutheran Church.
